Prof. Dr. Muran will present on current perspectives on rupture and repair in patient-therapist interactions, including conceptual definitions, practice models and training strategies, based on a longstanding research program in a New York metropolitan medical center.
J. Christopher Muran, PhD is Associate Dean and Full Professor at the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, Adelphi University. He is also Principal Investigator of the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Psychotherapy Research Program and on faculty at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (as well as New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis). His scholarship (supported by grants from the US National Institute of Mental Health) has focused on practice and training in alliance rupture repair, resulting in 10 books and over 165 papers. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and a member of its clinical practice guidelines steering committee. He has been honored by distinguished research career awards from the international Society for Psychotherapy Research and the US National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
